Mayor Jürgen Roters

Jürgen Roters (Social Democratic Party of Germany, SPD) became the directly elected Mayor of Cologne on 30 August 2009.



Jürgen Roters is the successor to Lord Mayor Fritz Schramma (CDU), whose term of office finished on 20 October 2009. Since 1999, the Mayors in North Rhine-Westphalia have not only represented their towns and communities politically, they have also headed up local government administration at the same time.

Mayor Jürgen Roters heads up the city of Cologne's administration with some 17,000 employees, presides over the city council, is the top-ranking representative of Cologne and the first point of contact for business, culture and politics, both nationally and internationally.
