The city is due to host Gay Games VIII from 31 July to 7 August 2010. Some 12,000 will attend a celebration of the inclusive event.
The athletes will compete in 31 different sports altogether. There will be something for everyone, from track races and ball games right through to bowling and golf.
Cologne has chosen the slogan "Be part of it", with the intention of including everyone, passing on the message that everyone is part of the community, and encouraging people to join in and work towards greater tolerance. Everyone can join in - irrespective of whether they are heterosexual, homosexual, transgender or transsexual.
